Authentic American brilliant period cut glass serving bowl.
If you are looking for a highly collectible bowl in perfect condition, this is one. It is a deep cut glass hobnail hobstar serving bowl, probably a berry bowl. This exquisite 8-paneled serving fruit bowl features deep glass hobnail hobstars with saw toothed scalloped edge, cross hatch cuts, and a brilliant hobnail hobstar base. Large stars have 20 points. Smaller ones have 12 points without hobnail. The large hobstars’ hobnails are cut with an 8-pointed star. The serving bowl is unsigned and probably dates between 1880 and 1917. After that period, production was mostly acid etched.
It seems that items in the same pattern were also produced in England during the Victorian era.
When not being used as a serving piece, many people will use the fruit bowl to display potpourri, dried flowers, decorative stones or for a floating candle display.
